Pakistan vs. New Zealand 4th T20I called off due to hailstorm in Rawalpindi

The fourth T20I between Pakistan and New Zealand at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium was called off due to a hailstorm that hit the city. The match, which was scheduled to take place on Wednesday, April 19th, 2023, had already been delayed due to rain, and when the hailstorm hit, the ground staff was unable to clear the ground in time for the match to resume.

The hailstorm started just as New Zealand had completed their innings and set a target of 175 runs for Pakistan to chase. Pakistan had made a decent start to their innings, with openers Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Rizwan putting on a solid partnership, but the hailstorm interrupted play after just 8.1 overs, with Pakistan on 50/0.

The umpires initially suspended play for an hour, hoping that the hail would stop and the ground staff would be able to clear the ground in time for the match to resume. However, the hailstorm persisted, and after consulting with the captains and match officials, the decision was made to call off the match.

This was a disappointing end to what had been an exciting series between the two teams, with each side winning one match and one match being abandoned due to rain. The final T20I of the series is scheduled to take place on Friday, April 21st, 2023, and both teams will be hoping for better weather conditions to ensure that the match can be completed.
